After getting some of the top bollywood celebrities to dance to his tunes, the ace choreographer, director and producer, Ahmed Khan takes the judge's chair on Zee TV’s reality show, Ek Se Badhkar Ek. In conversation with Telly buzz, Ahmed shares his criteria for judging, plans for the future and lots more.
When asked what compelled a choreographer to chair the judge's seat in a reality show, Ahmed replied, “I have never judged a reality show in my life. Secondly, the concept was something different and excited me a lot. My field of expertise is dance and I will make my judgment only on the dancers, while Abhijeet is a qualified singer and he will judge the singing talents. Hence, there will be no war of words between us over decisions made. I am glad for that, as I did not want to get involved in it.”
Talking about the contestants and their dancing abilities, Ahmed opines, “All the participants are good dancers. However, Kushal and Abhishek are exceptional in their own way. They both are very hard working and I am confident they will go far ahead in the competition.” So how does it feel being on television after working forever on the silver screen? Ahmed says, “There is not much of a difference. I just have to be very conscious of what I say when I am sitting on the judge’s chair. I always believe in speaking my mind and that is precisely what I plan on doing in this show too.”
When quizzed about his future projects, Ahmed replies, “Right now, I am choreographing for Aziz Mirza’s Kismat Connection, Subhash Ghai’s Yuvraj and Gajini. Currently I am focusing on producing too, but I will be directing a movie next year. I have plans of making an animation movie too.”Author and Reporter: Binita Ramchandani
