Mehul Kajaria did an
extended wheelchair stint as Tulsi’s son, Harsh Virani, in the serial
Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and later, he hit it off as Rohit in
Zee's Teen Bahuraniyaan. Presently, he is playing the role of Vinay in Ratna Sinha's “Babul Ka Aangann Chootey Naa” on Sony, a role that has some grey shades to it.
Explaining more about the character Mehul says, “I play the role of Vinay in the serial who is Aastha's brother. He is very selfish, self centered and will do anything to earn money. For him the most important thing in life is to earn money, no matter how. He does not get along with his father and wants to go to America to earn money. Emotions don't hold a value in his life. In fact, he uses emotions to manipulate people around him, just to get money.” Mehul further clears out that the role is not totally negative. “He is not a villain. He is very over-ambitious and career oriented", says Mehul.
He was already playing an important role in Teen Bahuraniyaan. Then what made him take this sudden decision to leave the serial? “On 26th November, I got married and for that I had already taken a leave of absence from the Zee serial. Then later I realized that I was not being exploited as an actor to my full potential in that show, so I chose to quit it,” clarifies Mehul. He is finding this role to be a challenging one and is very happy to have got it. “I was very fortunate to get this role. It came my way soon after I got married, so I considered it quite a lucky omen. I liked the whole concept of the role too. It was something different from what I have done earlier. I saw it as a challenge for me to portray a character that I am not like at all,” was Mehul’s excited reply.
Just now Mehul has no other projects in hand. He wants to just concentrate on this show and keeping in view his previous track record, we are sure he’ll do full justice to this new challenging role too.
