I play a character called - Sameera, who is specialized in weapons. She is a very homely girl, who is attached to her family, one can even say that she is like the girl next door. She’s extremely sensitive, but when it comes to professionalism, she is very tough, and can go to any length to get what she wants. She’s nice to the nice and bad to the bad.
Do you relate to Sameera at all?
In a way, yes, I am very attached to my family. I am a very emotional person and am extremely sensitive. But in crisis, the tougher side of me comes out..
Did you receive any special training for this kind of role?
Yes, we had three months of intense physical training. We were guided by air force officers who worked on our body language, like the way we walk, talk, the uniforms, etc.
What were you doing before Chhoona Hai?
I have done theater earlier; actually I was a main stream theater artisit. I’ve also done a little bit of anchoring. Though I have played leads in many regional shows, this is my first show on the satellite television.
Was it difficult to get acquainted to the military set up?
Yes, a little, as it was difficult to get to the phrases and the words, but as I said earlier, the army officers present during our training helped us out a lot. And now with the military environment I’ve begun feeling even more patriotic.
How is to work with Iqbal and Vivan?
It was awesome! I was a little nervous because both of them are such big names, and to work with them, was a little intimidating. When I began knowing them, during traning, I began knowing how down to earth they are. We have a lot of fun on the sets, we’re either laughing our heads off, or playing some sort of prank on each other. We truly have the time of our life!
