After portraying the role of a ‘boy next door’ in Star’s Saarthi, Manav Gohil was recently seen as an Icchadhari Naag in Aruna Irani’s latest creation – Naginn. Manav had a totally different look, unseen costumes and was seen in a completely different avtar. The TellyBuzz team talks to Manav Gohil about his experience of doing a mythological show like Naginn.
How did Naagin happen? You were there for just 2 episodes… Why did you choose to do this role?
Yes, I was only a part of the show for 2-3 episodes. I actually did the show for Arunaji, I have high regards for that woman, she is just such a warm and friendly person. I have worked with her before, and she came and approached me to do Naginn. I couldn’t say no, and especially when I knew that my role was only for 2-3 episodes.
How was the experience doing a mythological show?
It was difficult. I just couldn’t relate to the character, or the costumes. I wasn’t comfortable with the language and the character sketch. Come on, how am I supposed to know how a Icchadhari Naag should be like, (laughter) so yea, it was difficult, and I am glad it was just an extremely short cameo. I wouldn’t be able to handle it for long. But end of the day, it was a good experience and a fun experiment.
Talking about Saarthi, are you planning to make a come back there?
No, I’ve quit Saarthi. I do not want to talk about it.
Any new project in the pipeline?
Yes, I have an interesting project coming up soon. It’s in the pipeline, it will be officially announced on the 14th or 15th of this month. I can’t reveal much about it right now. Wait and watch, it’s going to be bigger and better!
