In conversation with Aman Sharma aka Anshu of Rajan Shahi's Ye Rishta Kya Kehlata Hain...
Aman Sharma aka Anshuman (Anshu) of
Rajan Shahi's Ye Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai on
Star Plus has come a long way since he first faced camera and
that was in the fifth standard. He cleared his board exams with eighty
four percent and is busy with admission procedures as well as his shoot.
The track is focused on him currently, showcasing how the cute, happy
go lucky Anshu in peer pressure and anger molds into almost opposite
persona. For the first time playing a partial negative role,Amanis
certainly quite happy but nervous as well.
We talk toAmanregarding his
journey, his studies, his character Anshu and the sudden changes in his
character.
Tell the story of your getting into acting? Was it by choice or by chance?Actually,
I liked acting, but no one from my family was in the industry. There
was an event called Talent Search in my school wherein I was spotted.
Since then, I have done 52 commercials and 19 serials.
Which was your first show and how old were you then?My first show was
Jiya Jale and I was in fifth standard at that time.
How did your family react to the fact that you want to take up acting? My parents were quite supportive and didn't over react. They didn't have a problem with it and in fact they were glad.
How were you feeling when you first faced the camera?I
didn't know the even ABC of acting; hence I was quite nervous and
didn't know what to do. Maine dheere dheere seekha hai itne saalon mein
(I have learnt slowly in all these years). I was scared, but my director
and creatives were really nice and they helped me a lot. They guided me
as to how to do and what to do, what are camera angles etc.
It would be quite tough balancing studies and acting together?Yes,
it is really tough to balance both of them as I don't want one to
suffer due to the other. So, to save time, I take my books on the sets
and study in my room. These days the educational CD's are also
available, so I hear them on my laptop.
Your journey as an actor until now?It has been quite nice and smooth, I didn't have to struggle as such and it hasn't been tough. With Yeh Rishta my career graph has moved up and I would want to thank my producer
Rajan Shahi uncle and Vivek Jain uncle for creating the character Anshu. And with the recent twists it's a challenge to perform this character.
How much do you relate to your character in Ye Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai?Anshu
is a chubby, cute, foodie guy who always brings smile to everyone's
faces and is always ready with his witty one-liners. I am also like
that. The way Anshu is Rajshree's apple of eye, in the same way mein
apni mama ki aankhon ka taara hoon.
And what are the differences between you and your character?Anshu
has become a bad boy now, so there are quite a few differences between
me and him. I don't tell lies, I don't smoke, mein chori nahi karta (I
do not steal).
When you got to know regarding the negative twist in the serial, were you nervous?Yes,
I was very much nervous but at the same time I was excited as it was
something different. Yes, it's difficult, but my co-actors especially
Vishambhar (
Sanjeev Seth) and Rajshree (
Lata Sabharwal Seth) helped me a lot and they tell me how to do it
and also teach me how I can make it better. I am glad though that I got
to do something more than just laddoo khao and be a chubby, sweet boy.
Tell us something about your nature…I
love to spend time with my family. Acting is my first love and football
is my second love. I want to become a CEO and then become a director.
Aman Sharma in one sentence?Bindass, not shy, a prankster, very loving and likes to bring a smile on everyone's faces.
One thing you want to change about yourself?I want to become fit and try myself for acting.
How are you when it comes to studies?I
have always been a good student; I get at least above 85 %. Earlier it
was really tough to cope up with studies, but with time I have got
accustomed to this routine.
Where do you see yourself in five years? In five years, I want to become a hero in Bollywood films.
Which is your favorite actor-actress and why?Shahrukh
Khan and Kareena Kapoor. SRK because he is an amazing actor as he has a
good of sense of humor, attaches himself with his fans; I like
everything about him. I like Kareena because she is very beautiful.
Your best pass time?Playing games on mobile or laptop.
Tell us something about your best friend and about your friendship? My
best friend is Rohan. He is my bench partner and we have been in the
same class since seventh standard and he is a great support.
Your best feature?My eyes.
Your good luck charm? My parents, they are always with me.
For you acting is?Acting is my life and my first love.
Which is your favorite dish?Pizza.
Which is your favorite place in India and abroad? In
India, it's Goa and abroad it's South Africa. I have been to Goa many
times with my family. I haven't gone with friends; my parents don't
allow yet going alone on trips with my friends.
Who is your ideal? As an actor, it's SRK. I want to become like him and even Karan Johar. But on a personal level, of course my Parents.
If not an actor what would you have been?I always wanted to become a doctor so I think I would have been a Doctor. But no worries I can always play the role of a doctor.
What have you decided to take up for further studies?Well,
I haven't really decided regarding my further studies but I want to
take up something easy and not pressurizing so that I can balance my
acting career along with it. I think I would take Commerce, but still
haven't finalized it.
What are your future plans? To become a hero in Bollywood movies and then a director. I want to take my parents on a trip to Spain and Europe.
Any special hobbies of yours?Playing games on mobile, laptop and PSP. I also like to play football and I am the part of my society team.
