    @Tani91

it is not a question stop watching the show. we will stop when/if we want to. (I am not watching it anymore anyways)

maybe this 'mantra' of ekta is good for her k-clones but this is a great epic she is messing with. - not her own little story. so she needs to show it respect! I am not comparing it to old one - I am talking about story of Mahabharat. It is not hers to treat it this way!

Thank you for a honest review!!

Ha Ha....I knew it will flop! I did not watch it and will never will!! Thank you IF for the review. I was waiting for the first review!
This is an epic we are talking about not some run-of-the-mill story!! Balaji television better be very careful about what they show! If not they are liable to be subject to severe criticism and censure!!
I see all these comments about giving the actors a 'chance'! What chance are we talking about??? Are these all not seasoned actors who have spent the last several years acting in serials and sometimes driving us up the wall?? Then why should they be given 'a chance'?? I would agree to that for the newcomers but not for the Parvatis and Oms and Ronits and Anitas!! Please!!
The whole look of the cast itself(in the promos and launch pictures) was way way below mark and that itself was a huge turn-off for me!!!

I completely agree with this review!

Anitah as Draupadi is the worst choice, no dignity, no royal grace, and shrill, teeth-bared acting.
So my guess was right and the 4 Pandavas were cheat shoots, thats why they never showed their faces! Dushashan was overacting and looked like an extra.
Havent seen Ronit Roy as yet but Ganga and Shantanu didnt look very impressive either.
It was a bad idea of Ekta's to attempt Mahabharat. She shd stick to family dramas or love stories.

anita did a good job and shell do better as the show goes on...this was just the forst epi!!

Anita = HOT = I don't care about anything else right now!

I agree that Anita as Draupadi was a bit too extreme, but give the girl a chance...you must remember that she didnt have enough time to sink into the role because of the Fear Factor thing.

As for the beginning..I'm 10000% sure that Ekta will show the vastra haran scene again because the 1st epsode was a PRELUDE to what Veda Vyas was thinking..he was remembering the war of Kurukshetra.

Saakshi and Kiran tried thir best and I thought they succeeded. You guys must remember that THIS Mahabharat has tough competiton from big serials where as the old one didn have any at all. AND also that the actors in this one are from regular BT shows....SO it will take them time to transtition from their Kekta la-la land to the epic world....nobody's perfect so this transition will take time and I'm sure that all of these actors can prove that they can do a great job.

As for coustumes-I like them because they're not too flashy and for one thing HOW in the world do we know that they dressed like in that century..I know there is research going on BUT no one can be too sure. The costumes are great because they're not too gold oriented like the old version. But the tattoos have to go.

As for the OLD vs NEW- I'd really wish people woild stop doing that because even though its the same epic..BOTH are very different in their own way..This one is supposed to target teens and children because this is the stuff they're exposed to in Bollywood and TV Shows...and plus they have popular actors playing lead roles..so its bound to attract Telly audiences.

And for those people who hate the show as said in Ekta's words- If you dont like it dont watch it....ITS AS SIMPLE AS THAT. Stop abusing the show and stop comapring it to the old one because there are people wh are interested in knowing the epic and watching the show.

    sorry if I offended any...

    so true!

I think she has crossed a line. No respect for the story.. her own kamolika or whatever Vampi-ish mind should not be working here.

    enough is enough.

PS. the draupadi was disgusting. no grace. absolutlely no dignity in first place!!

  • Posted on: 14 July 2008 at 9:23amanku-

I agreee 50-50. But the costumes are HORRIBLEEE!!!! I know its a modern day MB but still mann...the clothes, they just get to the eyes!
Thanks for the review...Actually, I agree with you quite a lot.

I tell you what is wrong with the serial - no respect for the epic .. that is something which has been around in ages , deeply sewn into our day to day existence .. not some bollywood formual kitsch that you can assault for money and profit. You have to respect the soul of that book and what it means to India and Indian Culture .. and the result will show .. that is why ne Ramayan works so well ... because they respect that epic.
