Excellent article!! A lot of those things really needed to be said - very well done for bringing them to all the members'' attention.
So many serials have attempted to tackle social issues, but pretty much all of them have failed miserably. Here''s hoping for some better quality, more sensible and less sexist/racist/backward entertainment in the future!
however, most serials on tv do not portray reality....most families are millionaires...they do not reflect the middle class population....it is an illusion
and most of the serials deal with the saas-bahu issue....and they are usually extreme.....the mother-in-law or daughter-in-law is either pure evil or just too good!!!!! this is not true in real life.....and the measures they utilise to get rid of either, people in real life try to use the same measures..which usually have disastrous consequences!!!!
also, the image they portray that as soon as a girl is married, he should wear sarees, wear jewelry, etc.....this is all illusion.... india today is not like that...people are modern now and the serials should reflect that!!!
serial/film makers have a great role to play in today''s society as people view them on a daily basis...they should use more important issues to sensitise people on topics like crimes, etc instead on concentrating on the saas-bahu issue!!!
