The bubbly Ishita Dutta who is currently seen playing the female lead Poonam in Star Plus new daily soap Ek Ghar Banaunga, talks about her journey in this industry as a newbie, bagging her first television show, doing films and much more...

Lets have a look on what she said...

Tell me something about your character in the show?
My character name is Poonam, a very well educated girl who is modern but hasn't forgotten her values at all. Though she wears western clothes and modern culture she follows the Indian culture. She thinks that the only responsibility in her life is to take care of her family as she loves her family very much. She is also very sensible and knows how to react in every situation and deal with things.

How is it playing this role?
This role is very close to my heart as it relates to me in my real life, though not entirely but mostly. Since I am getting to play myself I am loving it.

How did you get this role?
I had auditioned for this show and I got selected. I was elated when I got a call that I was selected for the show as the lead. I was on top of the world when I heard these lines.  It also feels great to get my first break on a channel like Star Plus. I find myself very lucky to get such a nice show and a very good channel to work with for the very first time in my acting career.

How is it working with the production house and the co-actors?
The production house is very helpful and supportive as they don't let me feel like I am a new-comer and always lend their helping hand when I am in need. It is a very homely environment on the sets. Even the co-actors are very helpful so I don't find any difficulty shooting. It is like a second home for me.

How did acting happen to you?
I was very much interested in acting so I did an acting course from Anupam Kher's Acting Institute. After that I got selected for an south Indian movie. It was fun shooting for the movie too. I also did few commercials in south and then I got to know about the auditions going on for Ek Ghar Banauga, so I tried my luck and I got selected.

If you wouldn't be an actor, you would be?
I would be a designer or a stylist. Or should I say anything related to fashion would surely be my choice.

The types of role you would want to play in future?
All the roles possible. As an actor it is a challenge to play all types of role and also you get a scope to showcase your talent.

How would you describe Ishita Dutta in one word?

Acting to you is?

A quote you follow in life?
I don't think about the future as I live in the present.

Krishma Solanki.
