Indian TV shows have now become an indispensable part of our lives and it is not surprising that most of the fans cannot differentiate reality from fiction.

Many actors who have played negative roles have been at the receiving end of fans wrath. Fans are so immersed in the character portrayal that actor's reel life characterization superimposes their real life demeanor.
 
Abhaas Mehta who plays Shyam in Star Plus's Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon has also been a victim of fans anger. He is known to have received hate mails initially for portraying the villainous character.

Jia Mustafa who is currently seen in Zee Tv's Pavitra Rishta playing the negative character of  Punni too has received her share of criticism- "I get a lot negative comments on my page about me as Punni and people who recognize me from my building are constantly telling me how they abuse me when they see me playing Punni on TV. I would not get such comments when I was in Bandini and it's a bit shocking that they can't see its acting and not me in reality. I love playing a negative character'

While Jia has just commenced on the evil journey, actresses like Eva Grover and Aaradhna Uppal have been stalwarts in playing these so called 'Negative Characters' and are well versed with the audience's reactions.

Aaradhna Uppal spoke to Tellybuzz and shared her thoughts- "I remember my first show Khwaish- we were shooting in Dubai, and one of my friend arranged a birthday party for me at her house .Some of her friends had reservations and pointed out that I would consciously make the crowd fight amongst themselves. I think fans just forget that we are not the characters we play and we are like any other person in real life"

All the actors who play negative characters have to put in extra effort to make the audience hate them. Actors portraying negative characters they cannot relate to the character they play ,being the likes of a conniving sister in law , lusting brother in law or even an insecure mother-in-law.

As audience , we should give them credit for their work and remember that an act performed with diligence and dedication can only hood wink us into believing it's reel life negativity.
