Makers of the well received show Mann ki awaaz... Pratigya are now working on their next show which is on Colors. The show will talk about how the brutal mentality of people becomes a curse for budding relationships.

Its so true.. v r not dumb.. and the sexual harrassment termed as luv interest is really pathetic.. and there r teenagers who really drool over these men.. take for e.g Geet on StarOne.. he is actually harrassing Geet invading her private space.. and its served and girls r lured all in name of true luv! Teenager girls actually tend 2 thnk such guys r cool!
Laila 2009, you've said it all! Rational, balanced and insightful overview of serials that talk about 'causes'.

"Na Aana Is Des Laado" I had to watch this online as I do not have colors and what I saw (three months worth) was decent but could have moved faster - it dragged alot.
To show the flaw in a criminal justice system is not a problem but the truth, and money and power does buy the criminal's way out of receiving a consequence for their actions.
However, to show that it is acceptable for a victim of sexual harressment to fall in love with her attacker or that her love for him will change him, is wrong (Pavitra Rishta also sends this message - think Vandita and Ajit). This thinking promotes the mindset that sexual harressment for a woman is just a man protraying his love for a woman in a overzealous way. That is not true as it has nothing to do with love and everything to do with a need to control and even humiliate and degrade. In fact to compare it to love is to insult the true concept of love.
And just a note, when I did point out a flaw in a show (the writer and show will remain nameless) the writer himself/herself said that these shows are designed to be watched without any thought but then made pitiful attempt to threaten me if I criticized his/her show. He/she cannot do anything but it just goes to show a) they view their own shows with such disdain and the audiences as idiots and b) they are overly sensitive to criticism.
TPRs can be high with good quality writing and high drama. It is not as though one or the other have to mutually exclusive.
Laila2009 the truth is always bitter and I commend you for being ready to state your opinion regardless of the backlash. However, I reiterate that the original premise of Pratigya was good, the performances have been praiseworthy, especially with the character of Sajan Singh, but in the race for TRPs the spirit of the show was lost or manipulated to bring about the cliched love story. The message is indeed very wrong. Is there absolutely no hope in the credibility of the Indian criminal law system that power and money can constantly triumph over justice. Ultimately leaving the victim hopeless and at the mercy of the perpetrator. This issue irks me about Na Aana Is Des Laado as well but in that show the backdrop is a small village and the writers are usually quite daring in portraying reality. Yet I have not seen enough of that programme to comment critically.
I've diverted from the main argument but Laila you are most correct in pointing out that such issues need to be researched thoroughly in order to give it the right treatment. If one takes on social issues then one must also be prepared to take on the responsibility of showing it accurately. It is best to avoid touching on sensitive social issues if the end result is that commercial success (TRPs) will eventually dictate the story rather than the moral message. As the shows that seem to rule the TRPs charts even today, when I expected the Balaji brand of soaps to finally be extinct are still the hyperbolized dramas centred around a love story whether or not the characterisation/story justifies such romance.

in india writers do their work keeping their eyes on TRP....and the method they use to measure TRP is totally flawed....from such writers to expect proper research and authenticy in social issues is a big joke....it is better to watch these shows just like we watch shows like dmg, mjht....keep ur brain cells inactive and dont ask questions....
to compare our writers with those of foreign writers is a humiliation to the latter.
as they say tv is an idiot box and noone better than indian serial writers can prove this right...
finally i wud like to say....if the writers because of their ego or watever silly TRP reason refuse to do field research then they better stop showing serials on social issues....better not give any message to the viewers than giving out wrong message....
