Anurag Basu to bring soul to Indian Television

Anurag says, "I always like to keep one foot of mine in television. I can never go away leaving it". When he said this, the immediate and the most natural question was whether he would be judging, this season of India's Got Talent on COLORS. To this the director says, "They had approached me for Season 1 and I couldn't do it as I had prior commitments. For this season, I haven't even received a call from their side."

So then what other association with television? "I will produce a fiction show under the banner Ishana Movies (named after, Ishana is his five year old daughter with wife Taani). The show will be a compilation of several short stories, very touching ones, stitched together as a series. They will be connected to each other with a chain-link," he explains.

The idea to this fiction story has been inspired by a Doordarshan show Anurag used to watch loyally when he was young. He says, "I used to love watching Ek Kahani on DD. It just occurred to me that we are not doing those kind of shows any more. So I took on this project to bring make a fiction show on several short stories."

When asked if he would also be directing it he said, "No, how can I with so many things going on. Three of my assistant director are fighting over who will direct this show (laughs).I can't reveal anything about the channel because there's a lot uncertainty over which channel would take up the show."
