After Kapil Nirmal's exit from Star Plus and Rashmi Sharma's Raja Ki Ayegi Baraat, we have news of Ali Merchant joining the show. However, the actor is not replacing Kapil as Yudi, instead he is playing a fresh character.

According to our source, "Ali is entering Raja Ki Ayegi Baraat as Angad. This new character will enter to support and comfort Rani who will go through a lot of trauma in the coming episodes. Angad will be Rani's friend and confidant. Angad is a typical lover boy who can be cherished by everyone. His costumes will be very contradicting to Yudi's. He will mostly be seen in casual clothes."

Adds the source, "Ali was earlier supposed to play the lead role in Edit 2 and Sony's Jeet Jeyenge Hum. However, as he fell sick a few days back, his schedule got totally messed up and he couldn't take out ten days for the outdoor shoot of the show."

The source further tells us, "Ali's platelet count got so low that his doctors advised him not to expose his body to the outdoors much. So he put health first and decided not to go with Jeet Jayenge Hum."

We tried calling Ali Merchant, but he remained unavailable for comments.

Ali has started shooting from today and the episode featuring his entry will be aired either tomorrow or Monday.

I am an American fan who started watching this show last year with my mother-in-law. I LOVE Kapil and could not believe they killed him off. I have been pretty sure they would bring him back because he really is what makes this show popular.

I think it is harsh of you to personally attack Angad for his character -- after all, he is just trying to make a living. However, I cannot believe the writers/producers of RKAB would think they could so easily replace Kapil with Angad. people love this show because of Rani and Yodu! We don't want to see Rani with anyone else!

It is my hope that Kapil's new character will really be Yodu -- maybe he got amnesia or something and that woman with her 2 kids took him in, and told him he was her husband! He will get his memory back the more time he spends with Rani and they will be back together again. Maybe Angad can woo the sister.

already RKAb's story was dying only star cast was holding up drama but as we know reshmi sharma the cheapest producer....always think about saving cost now have found some actor who is willing to work at cheapest rate has compromised kapil's great screen precens with something not upto the mark.........really pathetik this kind of people how could they call themselves proffesionals and working in media...they should either go to some nautanki making
