Well, it looks like it is going to rain new shows on Star Plus
with all their long-running shows getting wiped off gradually!! And in the firing line this time, is BAG Films' afternoon band show Kumkum Pyaara Sa Bandhan
which is tipped to end very soon.
For the uninitiated, Telly Buzz had reported in December 2008
that the the long-running BAG show might draw to its closure in 2009.
According to our source, "There has been news of Kumkum going off air for a while now. But this time, it appears as though the show will shut shop soon. The buzz is that Kumkum will end with the reunion of the Wadhwa family sometime in the 2nd week of March".
It is believed that Kumkum will be replaced by Phool Kamaal Ke which is again produced by BAG Films. However, our source claims that, "The new show will not be launched in March, as we have not even finalized with the casting, leave alone going on floors. So logically speaking, Kumkum might be given few more weeks of breathing space, but then we cannot say what the channel decision will be".
As far as the current plot of Kumkum is concerned, we can clearly say that the story is proceeding towards its final milaap. "We are doing fine with the track, and even if the channel wants us to wrap it up quickly, we are in a position to give it a logical end", adds our source.
We talked to Nilanjana Puryakastha, Supervising Producer Bag Films
who said, "We have not received any official confirmation from the channel. But we are ready for whatever comes our way".
We tried contacting Keertan Adhyantaya, GM and EVP, Star Plus, but he was unavailable. Well, this indeed looks like 'curtains' to the very popular show that made Hussein Kuwajerwala and Juhi Parmar household names in the eight year long run they have had!!
