i agree with both rajan and vikas that indian does have capable director but market demands etc are reasons 4 not many gr8 films coming from them. you r right vikas they dont have the guts to show india .. but i liked slumdog better than tzp but i have to agree with vikas again on this rajan and the others ..... we keep having shows on indian tv which are rehash of old story lines etc baring aap ki kacheri and balika none really are new age weather dulhann it was astitva although i love bidaai da new show yeh rishta have nothin new to offer except its well made and sweet .... its playing safe...... EXPERIMENT is a big word.. anyways thank you guys for your views

ive watched the movie..and i really liked it...and i had watched it before all the golden globe excitement..or before it was even nominated for i went in not expecting much out of i was balled over..but i think the golden globes and the oscar hype is over doing it for the movie.. people arent liking it as much AFTER the oscar nominations..i think they sort of go in expecting a LOT from it and i guess the movie falls short a lil..and as proud as this movie makes me.. the only thing indian about this movie is that its set in india..and i agree, the only reason its getting oscar hype is because it was directed by danny boyle!
