Deeya and Tony Singh's DJ's Productions upcoming show Ek Muthi Aasman on Zee TV, will present the viewers with the story of a household worker. Not only a story about household workers but a reality check into their lives.
The very well known actress Shilpa Shirodkar who entertained the audience with her acting skills in movies, is making her debut on television with the show Ek Muthi Aasman. She will be seen playing the role of Kamla Bai in the show. On the same we got in touch with the actress who shares about what made her take up a television show, her character Kamla Bai, coming back to India and much more.
Here is what she said...
Talking about her comeback Shilpa says, "I am coming after 13 long years and people expected me to come back in the same glamorous avatar which is difficult for me as I might look like a joker now if I repeat it."
This show thus gave her an opportunity to do something different which she couldn't refuse, "I got this good opportunity to show my acting skills and that is why I took up the show. Even after knowing that shooting for a daily soap is hectic I wanted to do this role. I believe that when you do things that you like, then the time taken does not really matter."
Shilpa talks about her character and how she could relate to Kamla Bai very well, "I am very happy playing the character of Kamla Bai. This story in a way is going to spread a good message along with entertaining the audience. The only reason I said a 'Yes' to this role when I was approached for it was because I could relate to this character."
Adding further she said, "I feel a little bit of Kamla Bai is in me. Kamla Bai is very real and a practical person who has hopes and aspirations. She lives in the today and not in the future. She believes that whatever happens is for a reason and we should accept it with a smile. I am very much similar to this character in my real life."
When she heard about the narration of the character she thought the producer was talking about her and not the character, "When Deeya was narrating me the character I thought that she was talking about me. This character just made me take up this show. I am really happy being a part of this show and by far whatever I have shot, I am enjoying it."
The show which has two young girls at the beginning will take a leap soon, "The leap is soon going to be taking place in the show after it starts. But that doesn't mean that there will be less of Kamla Bai being shown on the show because the show is based on Kamla Bai. What twists and turns come in the show are a must to watch out for. If the viewers like Kamla Bai, which I hope they will and then Kamla Bai will stay for a long time."
If the leap demands Shilpa doesn't mind playing the role of an aged woman, "I don't mind playing aged characters too. It doesn't matter if my hair is shown grey since what matters to me is acting. As an actor I should be always ready to portray different types of role."
Acting and coming to India was not planned by her, "Coming back to India and acting was not on the cards at all. I came to India because my parents expired in 2007. I wanted to be with my family so I shifted back here. My sister needed me and we wanted to be together."
Ek Muthi Aasman a show that happened by chance, has made Shilpa very happy, "I was very happy being a fulltime mother and a housewife. I never plan the future. But in the meantime Ek Muthi Aasman happened and I took it up."
We wish Shilpa all the very best! As much as the viewers have appreciated Shilpa Shirodkar for her acting in movies hope she gets the same appreciation for her acting skills in the upcoming show Ek Muthi Aasman.
