Actress Shruti Seth, best remembered as Jia, the girl with magical powers in the TV show "Shararat", says Indian television shows are clones of each other.
"I see Indian television (shows) as just a bunch of clones. All the shows, characters and stories are just the same. They look same and the dialogues are also same at
times," Shruti told IANS.
She is on the lookout for "something different".
"On TV, I can't tell the difference between any two actors. They are doing the same thing and wearing the same clothes, which is is very unfortunate," said actress, who also featured in shows like "Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chaand" and "Kyun Hota Hai Pyarrr".
The 35-year-old will now be seen in the second season of family comedy show, "The Suite Life of Karan & Kabir".
The show had a successful first season, which wrapped in October 2012. The new season will go on air Jan 27 on Disney Channel.
In the show, an adaptation of US-based show "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody", Shruti plays Priti Jaiswal, mother of twin sons - Karan and Kabir.
"We have had a very successful first season and we are happy for the second season. The second season should be more fun as we have got along very well. We have become very comfortable with each other and the script this time is even funnier," she said.
The actress, who doesn't have any kids in real life, admits she was initially apprehensive about playing a mother on screen.
"I was not sure that I wanted to take the role, but I realised that this is a fun show and I will be playing a fun mom. I would rather prefer playing a fun and chilled out mother than play a young girl who is a source of misery to others who watch her - that's what sadly happens on national television," she said.
The chirpy and full of life Shruti has also hosted shows "Comedy Circus" and worked as a video jockey for the show "Junglee Jukebox" on Channel V.
She has even had a tryst with films through movies like "Fanaa", "Raajneeti" and "Slumdog Millionaire".
She was last seen in 2011 film "My Friend Pinto".

Dear Readers,
doesnt look like she is 35...does she?
It's kinda hilarious that she is complaining about Indian TV shows being unoriginal, but has no problem working on a literal "clone" of an American sitcom. How's that for hypocrisy?
She is very talented actress and she is right about Indian television. I loved her in Rishta.com. It was a great show. I read so many reviews to bring back the show and I hope it does come back.
Well, maybe Shruti missed watching Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon with the super-gorgeous hottie Sanaya Irani, and extremely talented Barun Sobti. The show was a far-cry from the regular saas-bahu serials. It is another matter that after purposely bringing IPK to an end, the PH has made a carbon copy of the show that they are now airing on Zee :(
Shruti is an amazing actress. Missing Rishta.com really bad. She needs to come back with Kavi.. like NOW for season 2
What? And they forget her most famous Rishta.com. Well done IF.
Shrithi... Please come back in season 2 of Rishta.com
Pretty Please
They forget to mention her recent best acted role of Isha in Rishta.com. She actually played todays women.
I totally agree with her!!!!!
Please do Rishta.com Season 2!!!!!I love her pair with Kavi!!!!!
Isha was a character you could both idolize and identify with!!!!
loved her interview. really really hope that TV show makers understand the meaning behind her comments and give us something interesting to watch than boring and done to death saas bahu dramas
