Aamir Khan is saddened by the murder of labourer Abdul Hakim, who spoke against khap panchayats on the superstar's show "Satyamev Jayate" earlier this year.
Hakim's wife Mahvish Monday alleged that her family was behind the murder of her husband, who was killed late Saturday in Bulandshahr. Hakim had married Mahvish despite resistance from their families.
Mahvish claimed that ever since the couple married in court two years ago, their families had been baying for the couple's blood. The couple had appeared Aamir's show "Satyamev Jayate" and spoke against "honour killings".
"I felt really sad when I got to know that Abdul has been attacked and killed. My whole team (of 'Satyamev Jayate') is feeling sad about it. Though their story was not shown in detail on our show, we had seen the fear that they lived with," Aamir told NDTV.
He said he has talked to police about the safety of Abdul's wife and daughter and that they have assured strict action against the culprits.
"I have met the SP of Meerut. When I went to Lucknow, I had a talk with their DIG. Both have assured me that strict action will be taken against people who are responsible for it," he added.

What can be more sad than this? There is no liberty to even live with a person whom u love. Shame.. I just hate this religional biforcation.

Killing for Honour ..what honour are they talking about . These people have no honour nor respect for life . Its ego and to satisfy their ego their will go to any length .
Secondly people are forgetting that God made humans and we humans made different sections in society

This happens all over the South and Middle East of Asia. It's archaic and brutal, but reality. It makes me tear up in sadness, that people do not have the choice who to spend their lives with. Because if they do, the give up their lives for love. I literally hurt at the thought, though I do and can do nothing about it. RIP, and I pray to god that this will eventually stop. I'm crying T_T

To reply to a comment from Shaina_b, it is not the show at fault! In fact, the show brought about many changes, it is the people who need to learn and change their outlook and thinking, the show tried a lot to make people think out of the box and to see the larger picture, so it is the disadvantage of people who refuse to see beyond their limited thinking. The show has nothing to do with that, infact if you compare, the show has brought about very very many good changes, so why not applaud their effort for that.
