Agreed amazing shows like ehmmbh have fantabulous storylines new twist like cancer and the struggle between two sisters where one aborts her baby to save her sister
Yet the track is rushed as TRPs arent that good
Its sad to see it hope indian dramas forget abwt trps and jus concentrate on entertaining us

i agree wd u karan johar indian tv industry is far behing same stories cheap romantic intimate scenes showing sex etc abortions etc which r destroying youth in terms of tv industry i think pakistan is very good it produces drama always which r unique no sex etc these kinds of typical things!but in case of film i think india produces sometimes good films but not that dirty picture and her0ine but hats off to 3 idiots maker and ur films r great
thats why a wonderful show like geet was totally scrapped to make it gel well with the indian audience who provide ratings. you are right, whenever something new is tried on tv it however ends up in the same track as others. i agree that cinema is more progressive, but nowadays the kinds of film we get i wouldnt say that producers are giving their best. i can hardly count how many good quality movie has been released this year. they are good but not the best. bollywood is lacking of creativity. all we get now is those cheap item girls who spice up the movie, as they say. women are becoming more objective in indian society through these movies. this is a fact, coz we all know the rewards for putting up an item song in a movie!!

I can't help but agree with him. TV isn't regressive as a medium but the shows telecasted definitely are! TRPs guide the story way too much and something different is more often than not, not accepted. I am not blaming anyone since flawed or not, these TRPs decide the fate of a show and ultimately everyone's daily bread and butter. But there is no denying that while the themes are progressive, the content and execution is not.
As far as movies are concerned, they're neither progressive nor regressive. Most of them are pure entertainment specially KJo's. Box office decides the fate of the movie but it doesn't decide how the movie will be made or the content of it.

If hes saying that cinema is progressive then why are his films degrading??!!:P they are becoming worse and worse as hes making them! hes lost his touch! hes the wrong person to say such a statement!!!

i haven't seen too many 'progressive' hindi films in recent times... mostly i see movies with no story revolving around superstars, decked up heroines having no role to play, 'item' numbers, movies 'inspired' or directly lifted from hollywood or tollywood... where is the 'progress' u talk of mr. johar? only handful of people like aamir khan, anurag kashyap, onir, etc are involved in making 'progressive' cinema... and except for aamir's the others dont fare that well in the box office... most of the movies that are blockbuster hits do not have any story... a lot of tv serials have better content and much better acting than these 'blockbusters'... now if an aamir khan had said what mr.johar has said, then it would make more sense... mr. johar should first make good cinema and then talk...

You might be the first one who writes a story not according to trp and what peoe wants... But what the writer or director or whole ph enjoy.

I think Karan is right. I don't remember the last time a film made on a crying bahu and aggressive saas set the cash registers at the box office ringing.
And TBH I really do not understand the pull of the current TRP leading serial on SP. I eman its about this highly educated girl, who has given up everything and is married, made hell and heaven one to make sure her husband wins in the cooking contest and is now back to square one? I read ina n arcticle that Suraj would support Sandhya's dream but it does not look like that's where the story is heading. Its now off on another tangent about terrorists!!

Oh yes Mr.Karan we know whch is progressive n whch isn't...Bollywood always copy d tollywood & dis u say progressive...wah...each & every movie of dis year whch were blockbusters they have no story..they r blckbstrs just bcz of their star power,nthng else...& lets dont talk abt Indian daily soaps...
