After B R Chopra's legendary work on Doordarshan, Swastik Pictures has
been working hard to tell the epic tale of Mahabharata on Star Plus.
After the rigorous hunt, the show had blocked in the best of cast for
the show. But if the latest buzz is to be believed, the show has been apparently shelved.
A source says, "This is the second time the show is facing the axe from the channel. The show was initially to be produced by Bobby Bedi, but later on the channel wanted Swastik Pictures to take over. More than a year back, after shooting the pilot in Mumbai and Kolhapur the show was put on halt. But the channel showed a green signal after which the work for the construction of the magnum opus show started. The shoot was supposed to get started by the month of August or September this year. However there again seems to be a question mark on the future of the show."
We also hear that the channel has not completely taken the decision to call off the show. As of now, there is a delay of three months as the smooth functioning of the set construction has been hampered due to the consistent rains.
TellyBuzz tried contacting Producer Siddharth Tewary and even sent him a text message, but he remained unavailable for comments.
Well, all we can say is, only time will tell whether we will get a Mahabharata from Swastik Pictures…
