Infosys, Schlumberger tie-up to serve energy firms

Bangalore, Sep 13 (IANS) Infosys Technologies Ltd has entered into a strategic alliance with the Netherlands-based Schlumberger Information Solutions (SIS) to provide information management solutions for oil and gas firms.

Bangalore, Sep 13 (IANS) Infosys Technologies Ltd has entered into a strategic alliance with the Netherlands-based Schlumberger Information Solutions (SIS) to provide information management solutions for oil and gas firms.

The $14-billion Dutch major is the world's leading oilfield services firm, supplying technology, information solutions and integrated project management to optimise reservoir performance for the oil and gas industry.

The alliance will focus on the integration of exploration and production (E&P), petro-technical data and applications to streamline operational and strategic business decision-making processes, according to a company statement here Wednesday.

'Our customers are under pressure to accelerate their production and replace reserves. To achieve results, operators are looking at ways to re-engineer their technical and business processes,' the statement said, quoting SIS president Olivier Le Peuch.

By aligning with Infosys, Schlumberger brings customers a combination of technology, domain expertise and systems integration capability on a global, enterprise scale.

'Schlumberger is the leader in delivering breakthrough solutions to the upstream oil and gas industry. With domain expertise in designing and delivering IT-enabled business solutions to oil and gas firms, we will deliver solutions to the E&P industry,' said Infosys' energy business unit head Naren Koduvattat.
