Tihar inmates celebrate Janmashtami

New Delhi, Aug 28 (IANS) Inmates of Delhi's Tihar jail celebrated the festival of Janmashtami here on the campus by staging dance shows and singing devotional songs, said a jail official.

"The prisoners celebrated the Janmashtami festival," Tihar jail spokesperson Sunil Gupta told IANS.

They chanted "Hare Krishna" (Hail Lord Krishna) and danced to religious songs.

The children of a few inmates also participated.

Gupta said inmates of jail number four also staged "matki phod" (breaking of the pot containing buttermilk) event.
