"Outlawed in Pakistan" follows the story of Kainat Soomro, a teenager who accuses four men from her village of gang-raping her. She takes her case to court and confronts a deeply flawed criminal-justice system.

Nosheen is an award-winning journalist whose work highlights women's issues while Schellmann is a video journalist working for the Wall Street Journal.

They previously worked together on an investigative documentary on surrogacy.
