Islamabad, Nov 22 (IANS) Pakistan's Interior Minister Rehman Malik Thursday warned of terror threats for the next three days of Muharram and blamed some outside power for attempting to destabilise the country.
Malik told reporters that there was "an outside power" trying to destabilise Pakistan and three different terrorist groups wanted to destroy the country, Geo News reported. But he did not specify any country or group's name.
The three days − eighth, ninth and tenth − of the month of Muaharram are considered important. This year Muharram which began Nov 14 is to last till the evening of Dec 14.
On the issues of suspending mobile phone services and banning motorcycle riding during Muharram, Malik said these were under consideration and consultations were ongoing with the provincial governments.
President Asif Alif Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf had given a mandate for the suspension of mobile phone services and banning motorcycle riding, Malik told reporters.
