Car bomb explodes near mosque in Bahrain

Manama, July 18 (IANS) A car bomb exploded near a mosque in Bahrain's second largest city of Riffa but there were no casualties, the interior ministry said Thursday.

A booby-trapped car exploded in the parking lot of the Shaikh Isa bin Salman mosque Wednesday, reports Xinhua.

"The explosion occurred while people are praying at the mosque. It was detonated by a gas cylinder," the ministry said.

The incident has evoked strong reaction from Bahrain's Sunni community, which has warned of retaliatory attacks.
