Mamata to 'motivate' children to study science

Kolkata, Jan 2 (IANS) To motivate children to study science, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will release special inspirational materials at the inaugural session of the 100th Indian Science Congress here Thursday.

Kolkata, Jan 2 (IANS) To motivate children to study science, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will release special inspirational materials at the inaugural session of the 100th Indian Science Congress here Thursday.

"We are providing inspirational material for children. Motivating children to learn science is very important. It is important to release them from forms and bounds of social customs and introduce them to science," union Minister for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences S. Jaipal Reddy told media persons.

President Pranab Mukherje will inaugurate the five-day event in the presence of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at the Salt Lake Stadium Thursday.

Reddy, Minister for Communication and Information Technology Kapil Sibal, West Bengal Governor M.K. Narayanan and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will be present.
