New Delhi, Nov 20 (IANS) The union petroleum and natural gas ministry Tuesday issued orders
to share the increased cost of security deposit of Rs.200 on a cooking gas cylinder on a 50−50 basis with the Delhi government for beneficiaries under the 'Kerosene−free Delhi' scheme, an official statement said.
Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister M. Veerappa Moily issued the orders after Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, accompanied by Delhi Food and Supplies Minister Haroon Yusuf and Chief Secretary P.K. Tripathi, called on him.
Now, of the Rs.1,600 security deposit for each cylinder Rs.800 would be paid by the Delhi government and the rest Rs.800 by oil marketing companies. This will benefit around 3.5 lakh consumers of Antyodaya Anna Yojana and Below Poverty Line categories in the capital.
