Baghdad, Dec 19 (IANS) Iraqi President Jalal Talabani who was admitted to a Baghdad hospital Monday, following a brain stroke, will be transferred to Germany for further treatment, Xinhua reported. His condition was stable Wednesday.
The 79-year-old has been confronting various health problems in recent years.
"The president's health condition is stable and he will be transferred tomorrow, Thursday, to a hospital in Germany," the official website of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), a major Kurdish party headed by Talabani, quoted the head of the president's medical team as saying.
The specialised German medical team arrived in Baghdad earlier in the day and carried out medical tests of Talabani before deciding to transfer the president to Germany.
"The German team confirmed that the president's health is now stable and can travel out of the country," the official added.
