Lucknow, Nov 5 (IANS) Former Miss India and actor-social activist Nafisa Ali, who was the Samajwadi Party's (SP) candidate for the Lucknow Lok Sabha seat, Thursday termed her decision to leave the Congress and join the Mulayam Singh Yadav-led party as 'a mistake'.
'My decision to contest the last Lok Sabha elections on the SP ticket was wrong. I am happy to rejoin the (Congress) party that is akin to my family,' Ali told reporters at a press conference here.
Ali said she had even apologised to Congress president Sonia Gandhi for her 'mistake'. 'After I realised my mistake, I had apologized to Soniaji. She has forgiven me for the wrong decision,' she added.
Hitting out at the SP, Ali said: 'I joined the SP as I thought it will help me weaken communal forces. However, later I was not impressed with the functioning of the SP and realised that I cannot achieve the desired objective by working against the Congress.'
