Washington, March 28 (IANS) Ahead of a dialogue with India, the US has said as it implements its strategic rebalance to Asia, it will work with India to address both the challenges and the opportunities across the Indo-Pacific region.

The sixth session of the US-India East Asia Consultations here Friday will "discuss a variety of issues including maritime security, expanding regional trade opportunities, and increasing our cooperation in multilateral fora," a State Department announcement said.

"This dialogue is an opportunity for the United States and India to share views on regional priorities and identify areas for cooperation in our engagement with regional and multilateral institutions," it said.

"As the United States continues to implement our strategic rebalance to Asia we will work with India to address both the challenges and the opportunities across the Indo-Pacific region," said Nisha Desai Biswal, Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs.

Besides Biswal, US side will be represented by Assistant Secretary for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Daniel Russel and Pacific Command Commander Admiral Samuel J. Locklear.

The Indian delegation will include Joint Secretary for East Asia Gautam Bambawale, Secretary for the Americas Vikram Doraiswami and Indian Ambassador S. Jaishankar.
