The Hague, Feb 1 (IANS) After AZ Alkmaar, PEC Zwolle and PSV Eindhoven, Ajax secured the last spot in the semi-finals of the Dutch Cup, de KNVB Beker, by crushing Vitesse 4-0 in Emmen.
The match was played in front of only a few thousand fans in Emmen because the stadium of Vitesse in Arnhem was not available due to a dance party.
Both teams had already played each other in the Dutch league last Sunday when Vitesse beat Ajax 3-2 after bouncing back from a 0-2 deficit, reports Xinhua.
This time Vitesse was not able to produce a comeback. Danny Hoesen opened the scoring in the 7th minute. In the second half, Lasse Schone finished a Siem de Jong pass for the second goal.
AZ Alkmaar had already qualified for the semis by defeating first division side FC Den Bosch 5-0 Tuesday. While PEC Zwolle beat Heracles Almelo 3-2, PSV was too strong for Feyenoord (2-1).
