Cairo, Jan 16 (IANS) Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi Wednesday met a US delegation led by Senator John McCain and discussed the latest regional developments as well as bilateral ties.
They discussed Egypt's democratic transition, its efforts to support the Palestinian reconciliation, ways to stop the ongoing bloodshed in Syria and the US support to the Egyptian economy, Xinhua reported.
McCain also met Egyptian Prime Minister Hesham Qandil and some members of the main opposition bloc National Salvation Front.
On Tuesday, McCain met Defence Minister Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi and discussed enhancement of military cooperation between the two countries.
The US has been providing Egypt with $1.3 billion in military aid every year since Egypt signed a peace treaty with Israel in 1979.
