yes, i agree, the word limit was challenging.
especially when your story needs a plot, a setting, scenes, a clear beginning, middle and end.
seriously, even if you managed to get your story down to 500 words, i applaud you! this is a very difficult task - i've pulled out hair trying to edit some of my flash fiction.
but, at the same time, i think its a good exercise for writers to try flash fics. many times writers (including me) ramble on and on and on - and a lot of what we write is not even needed!
these kinds of exercises help you bring your story down to its bare bones. Every word counts.
with enough practice, one can even write a 6 word story like Ernest Hemingway:
"For sale: baby shoes, never worn."
so thank you to the person from CC who designed this task. it inspired me to think and churn out more stories than just one.
