Bella:"Time passes. Even when it seems impossible. Even when each tick of the second hand aches like the pulse of blood behind a bruise. It passes unevenly, in strange lurches and dragging lulls, but pass it does. Even for me."

Edward: "What happened?"
Bella: "I punched Jacob."
Edward: "Good, Though I'm sorry you're hurt."
Bella: "I wish I'd hurt him. I didnt do any damage at all."
Edward: "I can fix that."
Bella: "I was hoping you would say that."
Edward: "That doesnt sound like you. What did he do?"
Bella: "He kissed me."
All I heard on the other end of the line was the sound of an engine accelerating.
In the other room, Charlie spoke again.
Charlie: "Maybe you ought to take of, Jake,"
Jacob: "I think I'll hang out here, if you dont mind."

Charlie: "Your funeral."

Jacob: She thinks she broke her hand.
Charlie: How did she do that?
Jacob: She hit me.
Charlie: Why did she hit you?
Jacob: Because I kissed her.
Charlie: Good for you, kid.

Sleep well, Jacob," Edward murmured. "Enjoy the moment."
[and then, after a moment of reading Jacob's thoughts--]
Edward groaned softly. "I didn't mean that quite so literally."
"Sorry," Jacob whispered. "You could leave, you know-give us a little privacy."
"Would you like me to help you sleep, Jacob?" Edward offered.
