Harry Potter & The Half Blood Prince Pix

"Deathly Hallows" To Film in Scottish Highlands Later This Year

With production on "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" nearing completion in England, there is a new report tonight regarding early production for the final two films in the series due to take place in the highlands of Scotland. The Scotsman newspaper is reporting that filming for both Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows movies "will be shot in Lochaber later this year." As readers will recall, Potter film producer David Heyman stated that full production on both films, which will be filmed simultaneously, is due to begin in February of next year, so it is uncertain at this point how much, if any, of the cast will actually take part in this filming. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part One will be released November 19, 2010, with part two due in May 2011. You can read more about the Scottish Highland Film Commission here, and more about the Lochaber/Ft. William area in Scotland via this link.

J.K. Rowling Named Author of the Year at Children's Choice Book Awards

Back in March, we told you Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling had been nominated for a National Children's Choice Book Award. Last night in New York City, these awards were presented, with J.K. Rowling named "Author of the Year," for her work on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The press release notes that "children across the country voted for their favorite books, author, and illustrator at bookstores, school libraries, and at www.BookWeekOnline.com. Close to 55,000 votes were received. The Children's Choice Book Awards program was created to provide young readers with an opportunity to voice their opinions about the books being written for them and to help develop a reading list that will motivate children to read. The program is a new component of Children's Book Week, the longest running literacy event in the country."

As reported previously, these awards were presented as part of Children's Book Week, sponsored by the Children's Book Council.
