Which is your favourite Carry On?

Stars of the famed Carry On series are due to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first film. What do you think of the Carry On films?

On Sunday, surviving stars and crew of the 31 films, as well as hundreds of fans, will celebrate the famous Carry On series at Pinewood studios.

Stars including Leslie Phillips and Fenella Fielding will be joining Norman Hudis, screenwriter of the first six films, which started in 1958 with Carry On Sergeant.

The celebrations coincide with proposals for a 32nd Carry On film, which could be in cinemas by the end of the year.

Which is your favourite Carry On film? Do you have a favourite quote from the films? Do you think a new Carry On film will be as good as the classics? Is this type of humour is outdated? Is there a modern equivalent to Carry On?

Pictures :-

It was 1958 when the famous British film franchise began in military style with Carry On Sergeant, which featured actors including William Hartnell, (left) who starred in Doctor Who.

Hattie Jacques became synonymous with playing Carry On's man-hungry matron, here attempting to seduce Charles Hawtrey with a schooner of sherry.

Hospital became a regular setting for the films' comedy capers, with Anita Harris and Jim Dale finding themselves wrestling with a compromising situation in Carry On Doctor.

Cross-dressing was a running gag in the world of Carry On, with "Nurse Carter" (Kenneth Cope) the unwilling midwife in Carry On Matron.

Hattie Jacques and Kenneth Williams forged one of the best-loved partnerships in more than one outing, giving rise to one of the sauciest catchphrases of all time.

The police force came in for the comic treatment in 1960's Carry On Constable, featuring surviving cast member Leslie Phillips (foreground) and the first outing of Sid James.

Carry On Constable also featured franchise stalwarts Kenneth Williams and Charles Hawtrey. Williams said in his diaries that this outing was "mediocre and tired".

Carry On Cruising in 1962 saw Sid James (right) play Captain Wellington Crowther. The actor would develop an on-screen persona as a cheeky Cockney wide boy and gravel-voiced womaniser.

Carry On Screaming (1966) saw the team try their hand at a spoof of a British Hammer Horror film, with Kenneth Williams as a crazed professor and Fenella Fielding as his smouldering accomplice.

The writers chose to send up James Bond in Carry On Spying, featuring Jim Dale in alluring drag. The franchise was also famed for its historical spoofs, including Carry On Cleo (1964).
