Not that I dont understand Hindi, but erm...would you care to elaborate??

Dono Prince key saath kisne allegiance kiya hai??Confused

LOL it was a tongue in cheek remark aimed at girls having crushes on both the princes.  now that u made me elaborate on it, i realizw what a pj it actually wasEmbarrassed  LOLLOL

Off Topic but couldn't stop LOLLOL here...Gaur's that was so innocently honest.LOL

I agree with RTH @ "its not an allegiance to the queen literally but the cultural history the royals represent just like its not a cloth on a pole thats significant it is the historic meaning it holds." just another tradition followed not in literal sense.

Well....allegiance to your country is acceptable, yes, and it is what the norm is....
Since India is a democracy, we swear alleginace to our country (or are supposed to..), in USA its the flag, in Canada its the national anthem and the flag, and in Briton its the queen.....
What I don't get is....why does an individual stand for a country...or is it the institution of kingship that is being sworn on????

Should teenagers swear allegiance to the Queen?

School leavers in the UK would swear an oath of allegiance to the Queen under new government plans. Should pupils take part in special citizenship ceremonies?

The new proposals are part of a review of citizenship by the former attorney general Lord Goldsmith at the request of Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

New immigrants to the UK already take part in citizenship ceremonies. It is hoped that they would give young people a better idea of what it means to be British.

The proposals suggest holding citizenship ceremonies in schools when pupils are about to move on to further education or employment. John Dunford from the Association of School and College leaders said it was "a half-baked idea".

Would citizenship ceremonies improve young people's idea of what it means to be British? Would you like to take part in a citizenship ceremony? Do you pledge allegiance in your country? Tongue

If you mean doing the pledge of allegaince ever since one starts school and the kiddies have no idea why they should be doing it then yah, I've been doing it since before I can remember.

Question here is do these people want to stay in Britian? And how exactly would this teach those citizens (who wish to stay) what it means to be British?
