This is just  my analysis of Amir's "teri Deewani"which many (inluding me)believe was among  his finest performances. However,I wld like to point out something about that performance, which I was and  am surprised  that no one, esp, the ever watchful Sonuji did not point out.......

If one listens to the original one will realise that  the lines  "teri deewani" are  sung by Kailash kher in the lower octave .This is the one of the most difficlt parts of the song, coz  the beginning of the song has very high notes and teri deewani has very low notes..... this  gives the song a huuuge range making it very difficlt

But Amir sung Teri deewani in the higher octave, thereby  totally eliminating the need to touch on the lowest portion of the song. This gave him the advantage of choosing an intermediate pitch(since he didn't touch the low notes) and singing the whole song.......This is an intelligent adjustment done by a good singer, eliminating the need for  a huge range while singing a song.Embarrassed..This made the song a lot easier for him...just my two cents..........EmbarrassedBig smile...let me know what u think

I am not even sure if have been able to explain myself clearly.....Secondly  I realise this is an old thing...but since it pertains to music/singing and not gossip/behaviour of a contestant I thought I cld discuss it......If there is anything unsuitable with this toipc/its timing...mods plz close it EmbarrassedBig smile

awwwwww i loved seeing this again! Thanks for posting it!! And i mean this song got him a standing ovation from Sonu so the grading was fair according to how he sang. Sweet sweet moment. Maybe they forgot to mention your point in all the excitement?

this just shows how great of a singer Amir is and can be Smile Clap

just goes to show how easily a song can be sung if one doesnt have to sing the hard parts. nothing like compressing the range to match one's limitations, no? Wink LOL

Anitaji,

I think it not that the judges do not know. But because his performance was good the judges found it acceptable. For a 10 year old it is unbelievable.

Yes Kailashji  has sung the part "teri diwani" higher and lower too. The beauty of this song is in the composition. It is a classic that will be sung again and again generation after generation.

You're right, but I don't think that takes away from his performance. It's quite natural for a young boy his age to feel more comfortable in the higher octave. His range will expand with age and riyaz. Smile

It's way too much to expect a 10 year old to sing in two octaves, which is why probably the judges did not point that out. Plus Sonuji always says that "just because your range is not as high/low as someone else, it does not make you a bad singer."
