Pongal damp squibs!
By Moviebuzz

The new year has started on a bad note for the Tamil film industry as all
the Pongal releases have turned out to be duds at the box-office!
Industry analysts are shocked that none of the films even got a good
opening, and most of them started wobbling from day-one itself. Says a
prominent Chennai theatre manager: "It is shocking that Pongal film
collections nose-dived during the first week itself, there was no pressure
to get tickets from the public and films which opened in large number of
theatres are cutting down the number of screens in the second week."

A distributor from Madurai says: "2008 Pongal is the worst in recent
times; people were just not interested in seeing films in towns and
villages as they had better fare on television. And some of them which
were aimed at B & C centers were the worst of the lot, as they bombed
miserably in these circuits. Our directors and stars should realize a bad
film will do badly all over irrespective of small or big station!"

The trade and industry experts say that one of the main reasons for the
failure of the films was "lack of content, rehashing of earlier hits, and
there was nothing new in presentation."

High time they realized that they can not
hide under the statement - " we only dole out
what the public wants"!!! - Now that this is
out in the open, can we expect some "good"
films??

Ended up seeing Billa - a friend of mine insisted
on seeing it with me as her Tamil is limited and she
wanted to see all the Malaysian filming - God, how
can they make movies like this??? They go on harping
on the pen drive!! what if Prabhu had made a few
copies and had them lying all around???!!! and Ajit
should stop playing the tough guy roles - he has bags
under his eyes and just can not look tough!!! The
melancholy in his eyes is enhanced now - I have not seen
his movies for a while now!!! Meli my dear, Roja salutes..
due apologies๐Ÿ˜ƒ
