Shriya's "show-all wardrobe" has landed her in big trouble in conservative
Chennai. We had written earlier that the actress and her costumes at
public functions in the south have always made organisers jittery.

Shriya had gone for a function in Chennai to celebrate 200 days of
Rajnikanth's Sivaji, at University of Madras where Chief Minister
M.Karunanidhi was the chief guest. She was wearing an off-white dress
that rode up her knees while she sat, and a plunging neckline that
highlighted her hour glass figure.

The powerful but conservative Hindu Makkal Katchi (HMK) has lodged a
complaint against Shriya and sought police action against her. Says
Ramamurthy, Chennai district president of HMK:" The way Shriya dressed
for the function was very provocative and it offended Hindu culture".

Meanwhile the Kollywood grapevine has it that Shriya went for the
function to impress Rajnikanth and Shankar, and try to curry favour with
them to be the Robot heroine. In her speech she also asked Shankar to
repeat the Sivaji team, but it looks like her carefully laid out plans have
gone awry.

good! a few days in prison in that darb horrid striped uniform will do shreya a lot of good. maybe then she'll stop coming to functions in wisps of chiffon/cotton. plunging neckline eh? tell me something new.😆😆😆

honestly, can't she dress appropriately for functions such as these? hell even celina jaitley was blasted in by some press people & tv personnel alike for wearing barely there outfits in bombay. who is shreya then?

shankar doesn't really fancy repeating his heroines. after this whole mess, i doubt shreya will be chosen for 'Robot' plus with her current acting skills, she's a disgrace for shankar.

In defence of Shriya:
Read a different report than the one that Meli has posted on the function. Shriya was very well received by the great superstar and the fans. He waved to her when she entered and smiled.
When she was asked to speak she did not know what to say.
She accepted an award and there were whistles and applause for the same.
Shankar is tight lipped about his new projects, and all I know is that A.R. Rahman has been roped. For all we know the tamil title won't be robot.

Actually I think some of the actress should know how to dress in public
functions, esp when a CM are invited.
Yupe, me too think they will change the movie title from robot to a tamil
name cause of the taxfees 😆

about tax, its not relevant here, but I think it should have been tax for any
kind of title cause the movie makers earns lots of money so it wont harm
them if they pay a little bite tax cause its goes the pepple/welfares

"The way Shriya dressed

Can someone educate me please? What is Hindu Culture? Is there a ruling in "Hindu Culture" what to dress or what not?

Agreed if you all say this dress is not proper for a function that is attended by CM. Yes, it is a provacative dress to wear for a function. Luckily Mr. Karunanithi is wearing a black specs.   ðŸ˜ƒ 😃 😃

But to say this is against hindu culture, I am very shocked to hear it. Seriously, I am asking this question. Is there law in Hindu culture of what to wear and what cannot be worn, just like muslim laws?

Roja akka, the dress she wore seems very good and covering for me, considering wht she wore for the 'nenjirikkum vare' launch function 😆 Will see if I can get a pic of that!
