What is your take on this?

Force them to adopt Canadian culture? *blinks* Isn't Canada a free country?
Why in the world would they impose a law like that? Suddenly people should be forced to wear skimpy clothing?!Shocked Now I'm sure some, like Qwerty, wouldn't mind oggling the pretty gals in tube tops and short shorts but many have a problem with dressing in clothing that they don't feel comfortable in and, IMO, nobody should be forcing anybody into wearing something they feel uncomfortable in.

I thought what the Canadian lady meant is that they shouldn't be allowed to wear clothes covering their face or head or a form of outfit which is actually a representative of culture and society of their home country. Cos no way can someone ask others to wear skimpier outfits and if they do how'll they define it and where'll they draw the line.

Ain't this thing already creating problems in some European countries??

Lets take it this way

Walking on a street in Chennai, a couple from say UK is into high intensive PDA, what do people in Chennai say?

Now take a Indian man walking on the streets of Montreal, chewing on his Benaras pan and does his usual thing. Is it ok for the locals to come up to him and say this is not allowed here?

When you move to a foreign country you want to bring your personal heritage touch while adapting to the new culture. That is the beauty of North American culture.

Not come along with your whole shibang of native culture, you would stand out like a sore thumb, if you stand out like a sore thumb, people are going to take notice, some are going to take offense, some are going to ridicule(and then you are going to complain racism LOL ).

The bottom line(and not for lipservice only)

When in Rome, Do as Romans do LOL

When in Rome, Do as Romans do without appearing like monkeys which most of them do when they try doing like americans do. Veri few really can do as the americans do elegantly without having to change themselves drastically... LOL

My take on the issue....

When the russian girl shifted to Middle East, she accepted to abide by whatever the country follows and then only she went there.....

If canada had such laws.... the conservative community would either change themselves or will not shift to Canada.....

Its like I have decided to not go to Middle east except for Dubai.... Smile
