You too Pokkiri Paiyya?? I will try my best

1.       What is your full name?

Brintha G

2.       Where were you born?

In the ghetto of South-East London

3.       Do you have any siblings? What are/were they like?

Yes, I have one little brother called Laxman, who I am told by my parents that I spoil a lot. I can't call him 'little' nowadays because he stands a towering 6'2".

4.       Where do you live now, and with whom? What is your occupation?

I still live with my parents as I am a poor STUDENT Cry

5.       Are you right- or left-handed?

Right

6.       What does your voice sound like?

Apparantly, when I talk, it sounds sweet...but when I sing, it sounds like someone dragging their nails on a blackboard

7.       What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently?

I seem to use LOL a lot, even when I'm not actually laughing.

8.       What do you have in your pockets?

A tissue I used to clean my baby cousin's nose DeadLOL

9.       Do you have, annoying habits?

Hehe...I snore...but that isn't annoying for me, cos I'm fast asleep

10.   How would you describe your childhood in general?

Humble, but happy. 'All you need is love...dadadadaa'

11. What is your earliest memory?

I don't remember how old I was, I just remember turning the radio on when my parents were sleeping, and my dad (poor thing, it was always him, the light sleeperLOL) coming in and turning it off, but not scolding me.

12. How much schooling have you had?

I'm in my final year at uni

13.   Did you enjoy school?

Not high school...I went to an all girl's school and there was a lot of bitchiness there. It didn't suit my simple, tomboyish nature. But I love uni Big smileBig smile

14. Where did you learn most of your skills and other abilities?

Thanks to my parents, I got veena lessons since I was 7. Through that, I discovered my passion for music. Everything else, I learnt in school.

15. While growing up, did you have any role models? If so, describe them.

My grandad..he was a famous writer back home in Sri Lanka, and more importantly, a very kind hearted man.

16.   As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

So many things...a policewoman one day, and an actress the next, then a director...and to this very day, I still havent figured that out! LOL

17.   As a child, what were your favorite activities?

Going to the park, riding my bike, etc

18. As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display?

I admit, I was pretty selfish and stubborn cos I was an only child UNTIL the age of five, when my bro was born. I'm still stubborn though!

19. As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like?

Yeah, as a child, I think i speak for a lot of people in that you don't have many problems making friends as kids don't have prejudices in them.

20. When and with whom was your first kiss?

When I was five and I kissed my 3 yr old cousin.

21.   What is your most treasured possession?

I don't have one...I don't like the idea of being emotionally attached to an object, which would bring a lot of pain, if lost.

23.   What is your favorite food?

Nachos with salsa sauce, melted mozzarella cheese, and the spiciest Jalapeno peppers.

25.   What is your idea of good entertainment (consider music, movies, art, etc.)?

I love going to the cinema with my friends...we tend to have a lot of discussions on films. I also enjoy live carnatic music concerts. I would like to go to a rock festival, but I've never had the chance.

26.   Do you smoke, drink, or use drugs? If so, why? Do you want to quit?

Does Sheesha count as smoking?? Well I have even stopped that because of the ban in restaurants on smoking and sheesha was included in that banAngry Angry(even though it is not as harmful as cigarettes)

Drinking...well I am against drinking to get drunk because I have seen how undignified it can make people look. But having a drink now and again, with family, say at a party is what I do.

As for drugs...that's a no-go area with me. I'll never risk my life 'just to experiment'

I don't confide in people, but I just tell myself 'you can get through this' and 'don't ever feel sorry for yourself'....sounds stupid, but it works Smile

32.   Are you spontaneous, or do you always need to have a plan?

I'm a bit of both...I'm spontaneous in the sense that I do what I want, when I want, as long as it doesn't affect other people. But when I'm going somewhere, I plan everything to the last detail, write the lists, and have back up plans, etc

Inconsiderate drivers, arrogant people

34. Describe the routine of a normal day for you. How do you feel when this routine is disrupted?

I always like to be there for people, and help them out. I need to be needed, and am at my best when someone else is in a crisisConfused

36.   What is your greatest weakness?

My greatest weakness is my greatest strength. This results in me putting myself second all the time, but I would never change myself, no matter how many people think I'm a fool.Smile

37.   If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I wish I could control my temper.

Queen Mary College, University of London

Aerospace Engineering

3. What do you think of South East London? Im asking as I heard so much violence down there.

Well, I moved from SE London to East London when I was 2, but its all the same in terms of violence. The kids choose to roam streets rather than go to school, and that saddens me, as having an education will help them make east london a better place. What is even sadder, is when our people do that...I mean that there is a huge increase over the years of British born Indian/Sri Lankan/Pakistani kids comitting crimes in my area. And not just small offences either. Hopefully the 2012 Olympics will bring a brighter future for us.Big smile

4. How did you join India Forums?

When I searched for Selvi updates on google, I found this lovely, passionate community who were welcoming, and I wanted to be a part of.Embarrassed

5. What type of songs do you listen to?

Anything and everything...but my ultimate fave is AR Rahman. The guy is a musical genius, and is one of my idols.

6. Your favourite movies?

Hollywood: There are too many, but I love Kill Bill 1 & 2.

Tamil: Nayagan

Bolly: Range De Basanti, Lagaan (yeah, and most Aamir Khan films)

7. Your favourite books?

Jane Eyre, Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility

8. Your aims and ambitions?

To help make the world a better place, and have fun along the way

9. Describe life in three words?

Fun, Challenging, Taunting at times

10. Do you see your self competing for London Olympics 2012 as you are good at athletics?

I would love to m'dear...It's one of my strengths, but I'm sure there are a lot of people better than me. I will be too old for the sports world by then anyway. They're grooming 14-yr old kids for it right now. I did a charity run recently, and I found it really tough training for it, waking up early in the  winter mornings. But it helped discipline meLOL

I come back for more LOL

Do you think its better to be a vamp in real life than herione in reel life?  Hmmm....it would be cool to be a vamp in REEL life? But if I had to choose between the two, it would be Heroine in reel life. Would you given a chance like to be born as a man? No, women may get it tough physically (periods, childbirth, stretch marks, cellulite do i need to go on?), but men are expected to behave a certain way. If they are not macho enough, then their sexuality would be questioned. We as women, can cry, throw tantrums, have mood swings, eat loads of chocolate, and get away with it all by blaming it on 'that time of the month'. I wouldn't swap that for anything.
  1. Culture according to you is reflected in clothing or actions? Mainly actions, but clothing is also a little part of culture. I suppose it depends on the situation. Like you have to integrate into the culture of wherever you live, but there should be (in my opinion) a limit, so you don't lose your own culture.

Rest Later
