After a bout of fever my mouth is left so bitter and dry.... usually just by seeing all those delicious looking food I go hungry like crazy...ippo taste onnum illai...   😭

KANJEEVARAM IDLI

Ingredients:
250 grms raw rice
200 grms urad dal
2 tsp salt or to taste
4 tsp melted ghee
2 tsp black pepper crushed roughly
2 tsp cumin seeds
cup of thick curds
tsp cooking soda.

Method:
Soak the rice and the dal for about 3 hours.
Grind to a little coarse   thick batter.
Keep the batter till the next day for use.
Before steaming the idlis, add all the other
Ingredients and mix well.
Oil the idli plates pour the batter and steam
The idlis as usual.

Note: normally the batter is poured into a round
Container, steamed, the cut into slices and served
With idli milagai podi.

Thanks Kavi for this delicious looking iddli. I think I would definitely enjoy it. It would be easier if cup measurements are given ...prevents the hassle of using the weighing scale...😉

Thanks Supree for your arisi upmma recipe.
Its difficult to get upmma arisi in Malaysia.
At times I used to make my own upmma arisi.

I think scale is better than cups.
anyway a cup is about 200 grms.

I never heard of upmma arisi..🤔..is it rice granules looking more like rawa?😍

Yes Sue akka, in India we get the ready made upmma arisi. Its broken rice a bit coarser than rava.

chech, upma arisi is podiari....and yes, coarse granules slightly larger than rawa...
