My all time favourite happens to be
Gulzar...
---for his soulful words.... (Like Musafir hu yaaron)

---For his songs that ooze with his philosophy..
(like Haath choote to bhi rshte nahi toota karte)

---And for his versatility ( The same guy wrote Beedi jalaiyle and Ae zindagi gale laga le)

Who can ever forget songs like Mera kuch saamaan tumhare paas pada hai, Aanewala pal jaane wala hai, Tere bina zindagi , tujhse naaraj nahi zindagi

According to me one of his best lines are in the Song Hazaar raahein

"Unhe ye zid thi ke hum bulaate
Humein ye ummeed ke wo pukaare
Hai naam hontho pe ab bhi lekin
Aawaaj mein pad gayi daraarein"
(Can never forget the way he has penned down the feelings of regret)
