Chapter Three

It was almost time for dinner,

A knock is heard on KT's door,

"Come In," She says from inside,

"Hey!" Alex said entering the door,

KT: What's Up?

Al: Listen, can i talk to you?

She sounded Serious,

KT: Come have a seat,

She patted the empty spot on the bed, beside her..

Alex went, and sat beside KT..

KT: Anything wrong? You sound kind of Serious,

Al: It is,

KT: Speak,

Al: Well.. I feel kind of ..'uncomfortable' speaking to Mom about this, perhaps you could help me out ..Please?

KT: Depends on the Situation, Tell ..What's the Matter?

Al: Well--

KT's Phone in her room, rang loud, before Alex could speak,

KT: Sorry, i have to get this..

Al: No Prob,

She recieves her call..

"Hello,"

"Su, is this urgent?"

"I'm sorta busy at the moment, let me get back to you..fine?"

"Thanks, Bye!"

She hung up,

KT: Okay! Now ..tell,

Al: Well, last friday, my school dance, do you remember?

KT: Of-course,

Al: Well, this--

She pulls out a picture and a scarf from behind her back,

Al: have you ever seen this picture before? It's Mom's, and she's worn the same scarf ..she lended me to the dance, Look ..it's the same one ..and it's not in this country--New York, it seems to be a very diffrent place, did we live anywhere else before here (New York)?

KT: No, not that I can think of,

She says looking at the picture confused,

Al: one more thing, did you notice, she's wearing totally diffrent clothing? Not Formal, like Jeans and Shirts,

"Alex, KT, Dinner's Ready!" Yells her Mom, from the kitchen downstairs,

KT: We'll have to discuss this matter Later, Al.. for right now, don't speak to anyone about this ..understood?

Al: Sure!

KT: Common, let's go down for dinner!

They both exit the room,

"So how was school, Alex?" asked her Father,

"Oh! Just Fine," she replied,

"And how was college?" asked her Mother,

"Nothing special," Kt said,

"Just a new guy at school.." she added,

"Ohh," her mother said,

"Made Friends with him.. her?"

"Him ..Well, not really. Although, Su seems to be falling for him,"

"So, she seems to like him, huh?"

"Yep,"

"And You? You don't seem to like anyone i see, Perhaps, hiding it?"

"Mom! Don't be Ridiculous,"

"Well, maybe I should call up Kat or Su, and know what you're really upto,"

She said sarcastically,

"Hey Mom! Can I ask you something?" said KT,

"Sure," she replied..

"Not Now, Maybe over the Weekend?"

"Aren't you working then?"

"Yeah, But--i'm taking Saturday Off, Personal Reasons,"

"Okay! Don't make it a habit though.."

"So, Saturday?"

"Sounds Good,"

"That Reminds Me, Can you take out some time this Sunday maybe?"

"Any Plans?"

"Yes, we'll have to attend, Sunday Lunch, at the Church, Alex and her friends are having a get together, where they'll have to bake stuff by themselves, and take there,"

"Is it neccesary?"

"I'm afraid so, sweety!"

"Okay! i'll try re-arrange my plans that day!"

He Mother smiled at her,

KT sat in her room, thinking about the Picture,

Her phone rang again..

She recieved the call from Kat,

KT: Hello,

Ka: Hey!

KT: Hey, Kay! What's Up?

Ka: Listen, i've to tell you something!

KT: What?

Ka: are you gonna hang out with that new, asian guy in our school?

KT: when did you start sounding so cruel, Kat? Why, Any Problem?

Ka: No, Not Really, well--i'm afraid if we do, then we'll have to break our friendship ..i'm sorry Kt!

KT: What are you saying? And, when did you become so Racist? Geesh, just because he's a diffrent culture--

Ka: Listen, KT.. If you wanna be Popular, and not un-known to the college, then please don't hang out with him.. besides, we'll hang out with Sarah, the coolest girl in College,

KT: so, is this what it's all about? Popularity? Kat, we have only One year left of College, why are you worrying about that now?

Ka: I just need your reply, Okay? Yes, or No?

KT: Not if you'll be Racist..

Ka: Is that your final decision?

KT: Is yours?

Ka: I guess it is...

KT: Well, then, i hope your life goes well without us, Su won't accompany you either,

Ka: Well, then, i guess this is good-bye! from tomorrow onwards, you're nothing to me, than a Loser in school.. sorry--it's just the Rules of Sarah,

KT: Do me a favor, when you realize your mistake, i won't be here to catch you. You've not only hurt my feelings, but the whole World's, i hope you understand that!

Ka: i gotta go..

KT: Great! So, do I,

They hang up,

KT covers her face, with her hands;

'This is just so wrong, there is so much stress on me ..first Mom's picture, now Kat and our friendship breaking, i mean; we were "Best Friends" since Grade 4! And now, all of a sudden-- This dosen't make any sense to me..'

She thinks sighing,

She hears her phone ring again, after a while,

She recieves the call from Su,

KT: Hi,

Su: KT... heard about Kat?

KT: Yep, you're not with her are you?

Su: No, i think it's lame, only for one year of popularity, i mean ..ugh!! anyways, let not focus on that right now,

KT: Yeah! so, what'd you call earlier for?

Su: Nothing, just a little chit-chat!

KT: Well, i feel so stressed right now ..lots on my mind,

Su: yeah, same! Hey! Wait--are you thinking what i'm thinking?

She sounded excited,

KT: please don't tell me you're still thinking of the new boy ..it's been a day!

Su: So? i Like him, alright..

KT: Okay, Okay! I won't bother you about him anymore ..Although, it's funny! (laughs)

Su: Ha Ha! Very Funny! Anyways so what's up?

KT: Nothing, i think i'm out to Bed now ..so, i'll catch you at school tomorrow?

Su: Yeah, about that--

KT: Fine! I'll give you a ride, be ready by 8:30 a.m.,

Su: Thanks, You're the Best! Well, See Yah!

KT: Bye! GNite!

They hang up!
