More than 4,
000 songs. More than 500 Hindi films. One creator. Any idea who holds this feat?

It's none other than the lyricist - Sameer.

If there's a popular tune running through your mind at
some point this week, chances are the lyrics spring
from a quiet man called Sameer. Considering the
decades he has spent in the industry, there are few
who could claim as comprehensive a bird's eye view of
Bollywood as he.

What is it that makes Sameer the most successful song writer of his generation? He does not possess the intellectual depth of his father Anjaan, the versatility of Shailendra or the deceptive simplicity of Anand Bakshi… Yes, Sameer has his limitations. But on one count, he has outshone all others, past and present. He is the only living lyricist who, for the past 25 years, has successfully captured the spirit of the Indian youth in song after song and film after film. He knows their pulses, their dreams, their hopes and their concerns. And by articulating them in a language they understand, he has now emerged as the voice of GenNext.

And now we will have him here on IF Radio for a chit chat.

So, dear friends, its your chance now to pen down the questions to get to know the Man who pens down  your favorite songs... Please post your questions for him here, through which we get to know the "Anjaan" facts about him. Grill away...

The last date to post your questions here is - 4th NOv, 8PM IST, 2007 .

Have fun.Smile

Oh my god, really? WOW! I can't believe it!

Sameer ji, first of all thank you so much for giving us your precious time!! We really appreciate that!  I have to say that you are one of the best lyricists in Bollywood and I absolutely love your songs.  Your songs have so much meaning in them.  I don't like the songs with no meaningful poetry, but your songs are always so, so, so well written.  My favorite songs are Ek Sanam chahiye ashiqui ke liye, Tere Naam, Kuch kuch hota hai, You're my soniya, badi mushkil hai and many more! I think you're one of the gifted lyricists! We are proud of your work!!

1. What inspires you to write such beautiful songs?
2. What is your favorite song that you have written?
3. Do you like to write songs particularly for a certain music director? Actor? Why?
4. What is your favorite poem written by you or someone else?
5. What is your mantra of life?

Sameer ji i became a fan when i heard the soundtrack to Aashiqui... the music and songs really i feel changed the music industry at the time when it was really needed.

Compared to then and now how do u feel as a lyricist you have grown in your writing style...

from song from Saajan and Aashiqui ... to the mordern day Saawariya and Bhool Bhulaiyaa.... Which songs from your vast collection still remains close to your heart

There is not a Indian Singer who has not sang your song.. who today still takes your breath way when they sing what u have written...

Keep up the good work ... Clap Clap Clap

love kat Embarrassed
