Akshay's world tour with Bachchans doubtful?
As we had told you a few months back, Akshay's Nagesh Kukunoor directed film, TASVEER (renamed as EIGHT BY TEN), was to be a one or two schedule project.

However, last month's 25-day shooting schedule of the Percept project (in Calgary, Canada), turned out to be a bad experience for one of the busiest actors of Bollywood. Akshay Kumar could not shoot even for a single frame for 11 of the first 17 days.

Reportedly, the production messed up royally due to some bad planning and technicians' visa problems. But Akshay did not lose his cool and went about sightseeing in Canada and also watched the Twenty20 final match between India and Pakistan, at a friend's place.

Since the actor had squeezed in the time from in between TASHAN and SINGH IS KING, this mismanagement now means that Akshay has to make up for the lost time, so that his other producers do not suffer.

As per the buzz, the fallout of the above development is likely to have an effect on Akshay's much awaited world tour with the Bachchans. His participation is now doubtful, though not totally ruled out.

Big B talks about The Last Lear at London premiere

London: Far from the glitz and glamour of the Toronto premiere, the London screening of Rituprono Ghosh's film The Last Lear was a much subdued affair. The director himself couldn't be present but the presence of the actor Amitabh Bachchan more than made up for it. This is the first time that the duo has done a film together.

"It's been very inspiring working with Ghosh for the first time," said Amitabh.

The film, based on a play by Utpal Dutt has Bachchan play an ageing thespian, Harish Mishra or Harry, who's only true love is Shakespeare.

After leaving the stage at the peak of his career, Harry is coaxed into doing a film by a young, obsessive filmmaker, Siddharth, played by Arjun Rampal.

Preity Zinta, Shefali Shah and Divya Dutta portray three women who come together because of Harry and have their own demons to deal with. The film explores the richness of the Indian-English dialects and lends an indigenous touch to the Bard, which is rather refreshing.

"It will be interesting to see how the British audience reacts to the film. Shakespeare isn't too far from many of us we have studied Shakespeare in school. We are all familiar with his work," said Amitabh.

The film which has Big B reciting quotes from major Shakespearean plays, will be released in India in January next year. But Bachchan's love of the Bard doesn't end with this one. He says he will be playing the role of King Lear in a future project.

Amitabh Bachchan in Vishal Bhardwaj's next
  By Devansh Patel, October 22, 2007 - 12:07 IST
Now this is official news coming to you live from London's Odeon cinema in Leicester Square. Yesterday, (21st October, Sunday) at the Times BFI 51st London Film Festival, Rituparno Ghosh's The Last Lear was screened to packed audiences including the media, and it was none other than super star, Amitabh Bachchan who graced the occasion along with his producer. Rituparno Ghosh, the director of The Last Lear could not attend the screening because his father was not keeping well in India. Firstly, Big B answered the questions asked by the media and then saw his first English film from start to finish only coming on the stage for the one last time to reveal an answer of a question asked by one of the members sitting in the audience. In front of hundreds of people Amitabh Bachchan said that he will be a part of Vishal Bhardwaj's trilogy of Shakespearean inspired film and this time the maverick director is to cast Big B in the lead role from an adaptation of William Shakespeare's King Lear. He also added that the film will be out in 2008 and the script is currently being worked on and will get over by the end of this year.

Read this space tomorrow to know more on what Amitabh Bachchan had to say about his role in The Last Lear at the Times BFI's 51st London Film Festival

SRK in Big B's shoes again?
Trust rumor mills to churn out unusual stuff from time to time. The latest to be heard is that Shah Rukh Khan, after the successful remake of yesteryear's 'Don' is now toying with the idea to remake the all-time classic 'Deewar' with himself playing Amitabh Bachchan's role.

The rest of the star cast would be as follows if things go accordingly: Saif Ali Khan in Shashi Kapoor's role, Kareena Kapoor in Neetu Singh's role, Priyanka Chopra in Parveen Babi's role and Boman Irani in Ifftekhar's role. Sounds interesting!
