Blue Eyed Big B!!

Amitabh Bachchan, the Shehanshah of bollywood, has worn different colored lenses for his left and right eyes to make his negative role of a dangerous villain in ' Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag' more effective. It was Ram Gopal Varma's idea that the Big B would look more deadly if his left eye looks brown while the right eye gives a blue hue and the perfectionist Bachchan went along with the idea of the director. Though it was very painful and time consuming at the Bachchan's sixty plus age.

As an insider reveals, ' As one ages, it is not only the eyesight, but also the organs connected with the eyes that tend to become weak. It becomes difficult for the eye to hold the lenses for a longer period of time then. It was only super will power and a drive for perfection that made Amitabh Bachchan sport those lenses for hours.'

However, it took almost fifty sittings for Big B with his family eye surgeon Dr Himanshu Mehta to get perfectly fitting and comfortable soft contact lenses for his eyes. Dr Mehta tried very diligently with the superstar in selecting the right type for the Big B, as in the old age wearing soft contact lenses was a lengthy process and needed a lot of skill. Before going to the shooting site, Amitabh Bachchan had to go to Dr Himanshu Mehta's clinic and put on the lenses with his help and only then he could wear the lenses during the long hours of shooting.

It may be recalled that Amitabh Bachchan is playing the character of Gabbar Singh in Ram Gopal Varma's remake of Ramesh Sippy's Sholay. Though due to copyright problems and a case in the court, Ramu has changed the name of his film to Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag, but the spirit and the characters of the film remain almost the same as in the original one.

For instance, in Ramu's film Gabbar's name (being played by Bachchan) has become Ajgar Singh and instead of a village dacoit, he will be based in a city. In the same way, the character of Veeru (earlier played by Dharmendra) will be present, but this time it will be played by Ajay Devgan. Basanti will also be there in the film, but her name has now changed to Ghungru. This role was played by dream girl Hema Malini in the original, but now it is being essayed by the hot sexy babe of bollywood Nisha Kothari. And this time Basanti will not be on her tanga but will drive an auto rickshaw.

Hm…..hm…..seems.......Ramu and Big B do not want to leave any stone unturned in making this Gabbar.........sorry….Ajgar Singh more popular than in the Sippy's Sholay, no?? …but the million dollar question is will it succeed in matching the magic of the original??........kya bolta hai Sambha??

Abhishek to travel in time and meet Amitabh
It was supposed to be a role to die for, never before done in the way it was about to… a first of its kind movie for Bollywood. Shah Rukh Khan was about to play the role of a time traveller who faces an older version of himself when he inadvertantly travels into the future. However, this was not to be…

In fact what was to be was even better and more interesting; out went Shah Rukh Khan (the film's director Ram Gopal Verma fell out with Shah Rukh Khan) and in came Abhishek Bachchan. We all know Ram Gopal Verma has officially become Abhishek Bachchan's godfather, so it was just a matter of time before he offered the role to this charming charmer.

Now rather than have Abhishek Bachchan playing a dual role, why don't we cast Amitabh Bachchan as the future Abhishek? WOW what a brainwave from Ram Gopal Verma. And to ad a little gloss to the final reels, lets put in the new Bachchan bahu Aishwarya Rai, and make it a real family affair.

If this is the story of Time Machine, then I am surely going to watch it. It will be awesome to see Amitabh Bachchan pretend to be Abhishek Bachchan. What are your thought on this… do you think Ram Gopal Verma is justified in casting all three Bachchans or should he have stuck with Shah Rukh Khan? Will the Bachchans make this movie more interesting or would you have liked to seen Shah Rukh Khan in a dual role. Leave your thoughts in the comments section below.

The Big B's eye crisis

Amitabh Bachchan sports different coloured lenses in his film Ram Gopal Verma Ki Aag. Apparently it was quite a complicated procedure to fit him with those lenses considering his age. The lens on his right eye is blue coloured while the one on the left is brown.

It was Ram Gopal Verma's idea that the Big B should wear different coloured lenses for the film. However, it was Bachchan's family surgeon Dr Himangshu Mehta who got the soft lenses made for him. The superstar tried on lenses with different hues and shades and had more than 50 sittings with his surgeon before settling on the brown and blue coloured ones as they went well with the negative character that he is playing in the movie. The difficulty arose in making the Big B wear the lenses as because of his age. It was a long process and required a lot of skill. As one ages, it becomes difficult for the eye to hold the lens for a long period of time. It was only super will power and the drive for perfection that enabled Bachchan to sport those lenses for such a long period of time. While on the Big B, it seems that he may sport a bald look for Mira Nair's Shantaram. It seems that the director has managed to convince him to have a bald pate for his portrayal of Kader Bhai to Johnny Depp's Shantaram.
