a poem to my best friend...

To Maina, my best friend…

As I sit here by the window,

 looking out at the vast expanse,

That is the world,

I realize -

That today,

My world begins and ends

In a cluster of words

Just given to me by you

With all your love…

And that I value nothing more

Than this one sheet of paper…

That embodies your beating heart…

And so, I decide

To let flow my emotions

To let their waves gently embrace

The shore of your soul…

This is for you, Maina…

'you' and 'I' may be separate to perceive,

but for me, they both ring together – as 'us'…

and that is truly what makes this bond

deeper than the deepest ocean,

stronger than the strongest iron fist,

purer than the purest dew-drop

in the first rays of the morning sun…

i embrace happiness of the truest kind in your presence,

serenity of the highest kind in your voice,

peace of the purest kind, in the light that illuminates your eyes…

in you I see my sanctuary,

the one place I can rest…

in you I see myself,

reflected in the depth of your eyes,

as the truest sign

of what I really mean to you,

and you to me…

and so today

I can find no words other than these,

No medium better than this,

To pour out my heart,

And dedicate to you

A fragment of my soul…

Thank you Maina,

For being that force

Which drove me to be the best person I could ever be…

Which showed me applause when I deserved it,

And a mirror when I needed it…

For being the better part of me,

Making me who I am today…

Thank you

For accepting me

As the fool I am…

And nurturing me

To be wise,

And also, absolutely insane…!

Value your friendship
