Hey guys I'm glad you all like the story so far!  I'm working on the next part, but for now here's a little preview of what's coming up next:

Chaitanya opened up his desk drawer and pulled out a picture.  "How can my day start without you?" he asked the picture.  "My day will go well now that I have seen my good luck charm's face," he said with a smile.  "After God, you are the one I always rely on to help me whenever I need something."    Chaitanya kissed the picture and put it back in his drawer.  Just then the phone rang.

Here's the next part of the story:

While Anupama and Ved made plans to further their family, on the other side of Mumbai Chaitanya was getting ready to go to work also.  He came out of the shower and put on his clothes and then went downstairs for breakfast.

Sharda, Chaitanya's mom, had his breakfast ready for him.  Chaitanya sat down and started his breakfast and his mom started her daily speech of why he should get married.

"Chaitanya, how much longer will I have to keep picking up after you?" she asked him.  "I think it's time you get married so I can hand over all the responsibilities of the house over to your wife."

"Mom, do we have to go through this every day?" asked Chaitanya.  "I told you I don't want to get married."

"But, why?  Why don't you want to get married?"

"I have my reasons."

"What reasons?  How am I supposed to understand if you never explain your reasons to me?"

"Mom, don't you trust me?"  Chaitanya looked at Sharda and she nodded her head.  "Then please let me make my own decisions.  I know you want a bahu, but I don't want to make false promises to you.  I really don't want to discuss this again."  Saying that he got up from the table and left for work.

At the office everyone greeted Chaitanya with a "Good morning, sir" or "Good day, sir" and with tons of respect.  He went into his cabin and one of his employees came in.  He said that he needed to discuss an important deal with him, but Chaitanya turned him away, saying "You know not to bring in anything business related before my day has started properly."  The employee left.

Chaitanya opened up his desk drawer and pulled out a picture.  "How can my day start without you?" he asked the picture.  "My day will go well now that I have seen my good luck charm's face," he said with a smile.  "After God, you are the one I always rely on to help me whenever I need something."    Chaitanya kissed the picture and put it back in his drawer.  Just then the phone rang.

He picked up the phone and the voice on the other end, Piya, his secretary, told him that a client had come to discuss the details of their project.  The client came and they discussed all the details.  Once the client had left Chaitanya pulled out the picture again.  "You see, I told you that you were my good luck charm," he said talking to the picture again.  "Thanks to you the details of this project turned out to be exactly as I wanted them."  Just as he finished saying this, his secretary walked in with some papers for him to sign.  Chaitanya quickly put the picture back in his desk.

Piya stood there while Chaitanya signed the papers.  He handed them back to her and she turned to leave, but then turned back again.

"Is something wrong?" asked Chaitanya.

"No, sir.  Nothing's wrong," replied Piya.

"So why did you stop?" he asked.

"Sir, I'm wondering about that picture in your desk."  Chaitanya looked up from his computer screen.  "It's just that I've seen you talk to it so many times.  I'm just wondering who this mystery person in the picture is."

Chaitanya stood up out of his chair.  "There are some things in life that one doesn't want to share with anyone else.  This picture that you're wondering about is a part of my past.  A very important part.  A part that I've never shared with anyone.  Piya, all you need to know is that I am only this successful because of that person in the picture."

Still confused, Piya left.  She sat down at her desk and thought about what Chaitanya had said.  "Who could be the reason for sir's success?" she wondered.  Just then Chaitanya stuck his head out of his office and asked if she had put the advertisement in the newspaper that they were looking for a new fashion designer.  She said yes and that she had lined up some interviews for tomorrow.  Chaitanya returned to his seat and continued his work.

Meanwhile Anupama called the doctor's office to make an appointment for a check-up for her and Ved.  She had gotten the number of Mumbai's best fertility specialist from a friend of hers.  She dialed the number and waited patiently while the phone rang.

"Hello," said a female voice on the other end.

"Hi," replied Anupama.  "My name is Mrs. Anupama Oberoi and I would like to make an appointment with Dr. Sharma for me and my husband."

"Ma'am, Dr. Sharma is out of the country at the moment," replied the nurse.

"When will she return?"

"In approximately three weeks.  Would you like to set an appointment for when she returns?"

"Yes, that would be fine."

"Okay ma'am.  We will see you then."

Anupama hung up the phone and sat down for a minute.  "What if the doctor found something wrong?" she wondered.  "What if one of us isn't able to have children?  What will I tell mummy and papa?"  She became worried.  "No, no," she thought.  "I shouldn't get ahead of myself.  Let's see what the doctor has to say first and then we can figure out what to do next."  She got up and left to do some chores around the house.
