Since I went to the hospital's emergency room just a week ago, I saw a notice board there which said that the rule is that in case if an emergency, a patient has to be given immediate attention irrespective of the insurance status. So, I am thinking if it is unavoidable, they are bound by law to give treatment to the patient. It's just that they kill them with hefty bills later LOL

In India, as QT said, they don't usually shoo away people in gov't hospital. Or servant's wife was burnt really badly and she was given timely treatment without questions. He was given concessions later, and he ended up paying a minimal amount.

Anytime I see KP ad, my blood boils...

if you think thats bad think about getting refered to a specialist by your family dr. you'll have to wait in-line to get an apt with the specialist. then they go through the whole process of paperwork to keep you as a regular. i swear before patient throwing around is done...the patient wants to die of frustration and making apts after another.Angry

this is exactly why when you have money you can buy an apt according to your needs even if it means you are taking the time of someone who probably needed the slot more than you.

Dont know how good HC is good for any one but the govt and dr getting paid. its a way of ripping the tax payers imo...how will one find the  best possible service available for the best priceWink

ok, joke apart- the entire APPOINTMENT system is so messed up. What are they so busy doing? Golfing? My colleague whose father died of stomach cancer, sister has ovarian cancer complained of something that could suggest serious condition of reproductive system. She was offered an appointment after 6 months Tongue ..

Okay, I used to work at a pediatrician's office and used to do this appointment business. Since he was a child specialist, he usually couldn't play games about No-Appointments. But we had whining parents coming all the time about how the specialist that we referred them to, are not ready to give an early appointment. This is a child we are talking about here, so of course, parents were all frustrated. There was not much mu doctor could do about it.

I would ask him what the deal is... he just said, "Nautanki" LOL LOL. This doctor was desi. When he said this, I was just ROFL Confused

great points everyone.. - meena, MOE, RUTU- some funny, some serious..

Haha.. Tisha.. now we can't expect for the best of healthcare for cheap Smile .. IMHO< that is being too greedy / taking the demands too far. My dad worked waayyy too hard for his place on marine drive. now my kaamwali can't be eyeing for the same, although she clearly deserves a shelter for all the work she does and service she provides.
Wheteher we like it or not, even GOD made us different, some look better, some sing better, some are smarter, some are better human beings.. similarly, we earn differently and hence afford different things. Healthcare, being a PAID SERVICE, not a nobel one, I am not sad about municipal service being of less quality.

Life is such..

So my points are not great?Wink

Subha, that is the whole concept about socializatiion of health care as Meena is talking about. Seems to me that you are agreeing to my point that money is the main factor here in differentiating the quality.Tongue

Socialization as far as I understand means affordability of health care irrespective of the monetary status. Such utopia doesn't exist in India neither in the USA. Whenever you try to make things equal to everyone , the quality deteriorates. Such was the issue with Socialist Russia.

& that in bold my friend is a great point!  LOL..

To me, socialization of healthcare did not have an equality factor to it.  It just meant a SOCIAL structure / taxes / medicare paying for healthcare of the aged and retired / non-productive individuals in the society.  (could be wrong!)

Given that, again, I prefer what they provide in India in the name of healthcare over what I get here.   I mentioned this before and will say again-  everyone in my mom's family being a physician / surgeon owning private practice / hospitals, I wonder if I base my opinions on the great care I obtained.. could be Embarrassed..

about the one in red-  hey,  I did say everyone and I missed out mentioning raunaq in list and did not mention u just cause I quoted u.  Embarrassed
i hope u were joking in red.  if i din't care for ur points, i wud have ignored the post and u know me enough to know that EmbarrassedEmbarrassed Hug
and yet furthermore, leally  sowwy if i unintentionally caused hurt.
